Summary:

1) Identify and Isolate Problem Areas
• Identify problem areas and categorize the difficulties: barring, shifting, slurring, rapid notes, etc.
• Isolate this passage as it will form the basis for the exercise

2) Planting Seeds for Progress
• Blind repetition won't be much help. Instead, we should plant seeds for progress, which are thoughtful and intentional actions that help us master difficulties. These involve things like:
- Writing detailed fingerings
- Movements of anticipation
- Practicing preparation

3) Create the exercise through repetition
• Repeat the passage up and down the fretboard
• Focus on the problem areas
• Ensure the seeds of progress help you to improve after each repetition

Action Points:

1. Apply this process to a passage of your choice. Share your work with CGU members.
